If you’re looking for a career as a Licensed Professional Counselor, ACU’s Master of Science in counseling psychology is the right degree for you; our program offers all of the courses required for licensure in Texas.

The program offers a distinctively Christian perspective, training for individual and group counseling, interviewing, crisis intervention, psychological testing, and professional issues and ethics. You will be thoughtfully and carefully supervised as you begin to see clients in our beautiful community training clinic which is housed in the Psychology Department. As you develop expertise you will expand your training in local hospitals, clinics, counseling centers, and non-profit agencies to gain real-world training experience.

Program Highlights:

This 60-credit hour residential graduate program in counseling psychology is designed to be completed in two years but can be completed part-time. It offers:

  • Courses in Psychotherapy, Clinical Assessment, Psychopathology, Clinical Research Methods, Addictive Behaviors and more.
  • Practicum opportunities in our state-of-the-art, on-site training clinic as well as the ability to specialize your experience in outside practica with children and adolescents, in-patient hospitals, integrated health care settings, eating disorders, addiction, domestic violence shelters, and university counseling centers, and more.
  • Intentional professor/student ratio to enable academic and pedagogical mentoring and excellent clinical supervision.
  • Competitive graduate assistantships and scholarships.
  • No GRE required.
